Children in Society

Maria Montessori believed that education begins at birth.  All other mammals, besides human, can walk in some form soon after birth, as well as make the noises recognized as the sounds of their species.  

It is not unreasonable to wonder about the individuality in learning skills from one child to another of the same age. This happens when parents of siblings compare, and when parents compare other children in their child’s class. To make an accurate comparison is difficult since so many variables need to be the same.

There are many gifts we give our children throughout their lives. The lasting treasures are always difficult to achieve, but the effort is worth it. We want our children to be independent, mature and responsible. We have to worry about the mixed messages we often inadvertently give.
