Childhood is marked by a series of phases of development both physical and intellectual.
It is not unreasonable to wonder about the individuality in learning skills from one child to another of the same age. This happens when parents of siblings compare, and when parents compare other children in their child’s class. To make an accurate comparison is difficult since so many variables need to be the same.
There are many gifts we give our children throughout their lives. The lasting treasures are always difficult to achieve, but the effort is worth it. We want our children to be independent, mature and responsible. We have to worry about the mixed messages we often inadvertently give.

Your child cannot get along with a playmate in the yard—a test. Your bundle of joy has forgotten his or her lunch or mittens– a test. Your precious has made a mess of their room– a test. What do you do? No really, what do you do? These are the opportunities given to us on a daily basis to help determine our role in the life of our children.
