Johanna has been a part of the Montessori community since she received her A.M.I. diploma in  1978. Prior to this, she completed a B.A. program at the University of Western Ontario. After ten years of service on the Board of CAMT (Canadian Association of Montessori Teachers), she was given one of its highest accolades, an honourary lifetime membership. She has also been a member of the accreditation team of CCMA. Her own children attended and graduated from a Montessori Elementary program. Currently, her two grandchildren attend M L Montessori.

Johanna began her career teaching at a variety of schools until she began administrating in 1986. Missing the classroom experience, she is currently teaching in a Casa class. She is happiest in the company of children. Johanna continues to be as passionate about the Montessori philosophy as she was in her first year of teaching.
